The BoatExec installation and purchase process is somewhat different than most software.  You will install the software and the database before you are asked to pay for them.  The following steps outline the process.  It sounds more complex than it is, and this approach assures you that you can reliably transfer and upgrade your system before you are asked to pay for it.

What You Can Expect

  1. Pressing the Install button at the bottom of this page starts the process.  It will take you to a form that will install the application.  NOTE: We have found that you must be using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browser during the installation process.  If you use another, then you can return it to being your default after BoatExec is installed.
  2. The Microsoft Installer will check your system to see if it will support this software and whether you need any prerequisites such as the .NET Framework version 2.0.  If so, it automatically downloads and installs these packages from the Microsoft site.  Downloading the .NET Framework may take some time since this is a large file.
  3. Once the prerequisite software is installed, there will be a pause as your system is again checked by the Microsoft Installer.  Please be patient.
  4. The BoatExec software package will then be automatically downloaded and installed. When completed, you will find the program in your Start menu.
  5. Start BoatExec.  It will look for its database on your system.  It does not know exactly why it is missing, and it needs to be really sure it is not overwriting an existing database. So, you will be asked a few questions to clarify the situation. 
  6. When you confirm you want a new database, a blank copy of the database will be downloaded to your computer.
  7. BoatExec will then determine that you need to license that database and will lead you through the credit card payment process.
  8. Once licensed, you will be asked you to name your boat. This is how BoatExec keeps track of different boats in the database.
  9. You will then be taken to the Setup form to get you started.
